Toyota CelicaCelica RA40 (Mk2 Series II)1 Nov 1979 A new nose featuring square headlights, big plastic bumpers, revised tail-lights, a refreshed, quieter cabin and improved seats summed up the RA40 Series II upgrade for 1980. The 2.0-litre engine’s output remained at 63kW. In early 1981 Toyota tackled the Celica’s below-par ride and handling properties with TST, a suspension tuning upgrade that was more of a cynical attempt to cash in on Holden’s successful Radial Tuned Suspension program. A total of 26,512 RA40 models made it to Australia from 1977 to 1981. |
