The 2.0 TFSI quattro is the latest, introducing the S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox to the range for the first time, as well as a highly tuned version of the direct-injection turbo four-cylinder petrol engine found in the acclaimed VW Golf GTI. Nevertheless, the 2.0 TFSI quattro model was perhaps the most convincing, using the VW Golf GTI’s 147kW/80Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed sequential shift automatic gearbox, and driving all four wheels via Audi’s exemplary Torsen differential quattro all-wheel-drive system. Equipment and safety levels also ranked highly, as did the excellent build and presentation quality inside. S-Line versions arrived from the middle of 2006, but beware of the hard ride. |
