Super TestCar reviews - BMW - X5 - 4.4iBMW modelsSuspension2 May 2001 HOW much Land Rover went into the X5's suspension is something we will probably never know. The BMW, however, has a much more car-like arrangement than Range Rover or Discovery, with full independence on all wheels, plus a sedan-derived multi-link rear axle complete with a pneumatic self-levelling function. BMW offers a sports suspension on the X5 that firms up springs and dampers but retains the same ride height. The X5 is equipped with self-levelling multi-link rear suspension and is designed for towing loads up to 2700kg.
