Super TestCar reviews - Ford - Cougar - coupeFord modelsThe Car16 Jan 2001 THE Cougar is a classic example of Ford's "New Edge" international styling philosophy. New Edge means a machined look taut, crisp surfaces designed to make a car look more athletic than the softer, more organic shapes of the early 1990s. A good example of the latter is the Probe, the Ford coupe that preceded Cougar. Triangular shapes appear across the Cougar's bodywork and throughout the interior. Styling imperatives have their practical drawbacks however, as there is minimal space in the rear and poor rear vision. The sleek looks are also not backed up by 0.35Cd figure for aerodynamics, which is quite high. Did you know?Work began on the project in 1995 with the Cougar launched in Europe in December, 1998, the US the following January and Australia in August, 1999All car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
