Super TestCar reviews - Ford - Mustang - Cobra coupeFord modelsResearch Ford OverviewFord's first Mustang in 35 years proved less alluring than the '65 original15 May 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON FORD has some powerful images in its arsenal of past product, but none quite as evocative as the Mustang. The first factory Mustang to be sold here since the original 1960s version brings a mix of solid US muscle and a touch of refinement that would have stunned original Mustang buyers. But it's still very American in many ways. The ergonomics ask many compromises in driver comfort and there are a few glaring crudities that would never appear in European or Japanese sporting cars. But the car is dynamically very competent, and the multi-valve, quad camshaft, all-alloy V8 is one of the most delightful engines to appear on Australian shores in the last decade.
