Road TestCar reviews - Hyundai - Tucson - ActiveHyundai modelsResearch Hyundai OverviewHyundai’s base Tucson, the Active, takes the fight up to the mid-SUV field13 Feb 2017 AND here is one we prepared earlier – literally. Yes, the Tucson Active featured in this road test came down the Hyundai production line in the Czech Republic on the very day that GoAuto manned the factory rattle guns to experience car production first hand. We even got to screw the number plates into place when – weeks later, after a long journey by rail, ship and truck – the vehicle arrived in Melbourne where it was delivered in its virginal state directly into our hands for a long-term road test. Replacing the ix35 in 2015, the Tucson is, like all current Hyundais, a quantum leap in design and engineering over early offerings from the South Korean car-maker. The problem is, rivals have not stood still either. Here we put personal attachment aside to assess Hyundai’s cheapest SUV, competing in arguably the toughest market segment.
