Similar in architecture to Jeep's 4.7-litre V8 in the Grand Cherokee, this engine pushes out 155kW at 5200rpm and 312Nm of torque at 3800rpm. The 3.7 is a 90-degree design with an even firing order, cast-iron block, aluminium cylinder-heads and a chain-driven single overhead camshaft for each bank. For added smoothness, the engine employs a gear-driven centrally-mounted balance shaft. Jeep claims a top speed of 180km/h, 0-100km/h acceleration of 10.8 seconds and combined fuel consumption average of 14.6 litres per 100km.
