The optional four-speed automatic transmission has power and economy modes. The gear lever is mounted high in the centre console to provide walk-through capability without having to place the lever on the steering column. Dual second gear synchromesh is designed to minimise shift effort and improve engine braking and low-speed shift feel. Synchroniser on reverse gear reduces wear and delivers smoother, quieter shifting. The manual transmission features advanced control linkages to provide improved shifting. A 'hold' button aids starting off and engine braking in extremely slippery conditions, and is located on the shift lever.
