Super TestCar reviews - Land Rover - Freelander - XEi 5-dr wagonLand Rover modelsBrakes14 Mar 2001 ALL Freelanders use 262mm solid front discs and 254mm rear drum brakes, with four-channel anti-lock brakes standard on XE and optional elsewhere. ABS monitors wheels 250 times per second and adjusts braking pressure if wheel lock-up is detected. It works in conjunction with Electronic Traction Control which applies braking force and re-distributes the power to the wheels with most grip. Rather than use a low-range transfer gearbox, the Freelander uses an ABS-linked downhill crawling system called Hill Descent Control. Did you know? When engaged in Hill Descent mode, the ABS maintains downhill braking at a steady 9km/h. If an uneven descent is detected the speed will automatically cut to 7km/hAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
