Super TestCar reviews - Saab - 900 - 900i 2-dr convertibleSaab modelsUsed Rivals25 Jun 2003 PEUGEOT 306 2D CABRIOLET (1994-2001) THE 306 is another of the select group which looks appealing with the top up or down. The nimble handling and supple suspension make it fun to drive. The 1.8-litre engine does not have a lot of power (77kW) but its strong mid-range torque makes it easy to drive. VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2D CABRIOLET (1990-1994) THE Golf is the smallest of this group but the boxy styling makes it spacious for its size. Not a lot in the way of luxury equipment except for alloy wheels. The 1.8-litre, 70kW engine has adequate power but its forte is economy and low-speed torque. HONDA INTEGRA 2D COUPE (1993-1999) THE Integra does not have a soft top - there is a sunroof - but it looks good. It is well finished and most of the luxuries are there. The big plus for the Integra is the 125kW, 1.8-litre, V- TEC variable valve timing engine. It is flexible, economical and powerful. BMW 3 2D CONVERTIBLE (1990-1995) TO step into the classy E36 model BMW 325i Convertible, you have to pay considerably more money. Alternatively, settle for the older E30 model which ran from 1988-1990 as the 320i before getting the bigger 2.5-litre engine and the 325i moniker until 1992.
