Road TestCar reviews - Toyota - Hilux - SR5 d/cab tdi 4x4 utilityToyota modelsSteering12 Jul 2002 RECIRCULAING ball and nut, power-assisted steering is standard across the range. The three-spoke steering wheel has a comfortable grip and the vehicle takes 12.2 metres to complete a full circle, with the steering wheel requiring 4.1 turns lock to lock. On the highway the vehicle holds a straight line easily and corners well, although it can become a little vague when the road surface is uneven and or the speed is up at the legal limit. Some of this vagueness is due to the wide 255/70R15 LT tyres. Two control stalks are fitted to the HiLux - the one on the right of the steering wheel is indicators and headlights on/off and high beam, and on the left is window wipers and wash. Toyota offers a driver and passenger airbag as an option.
