New models - BMW - 8 Series - Heritage EditionBMW reveals super-exclusive 840i Heritage EditionAnother special edition from BMW, this time in form of 840i Heritage Edition28 Jul 2021 BMW AUSTRALIA has upped the opulence and exclusivity of its local 8 Series by securing nine examples of the new 840i Heritage Edition, a car that it says pays homage to the original 8 Series of the 1990s.
Available in Coupe, Gran Coupe and Convertible guises, the 840i Heritage Editions actually undercut their standard counterparts by $15,000 a piece, despite coming with a myriad of exclusive touches and extra features.
Checking in from $189,900 plus on-road costs, the Gran Coupe is the cheapest of the bunch, followed by the $192,900 Coupe while the Convertible is predictably the most expensive at $207,900. All versions will arrive in the final quarter of the year.
Compared to the mainstream 840is, the Heritage Editions add bespoke ‘BMW Individual’ paint, a full ‘Merino’ leather interior, BMW ‘Crafted Clarity Glass’ gear selector, controller and engine start button, piano black interior trim and BMW M alcantara headliner.
As for the exterior touches, all examples will ride on ‘Jet Black’ 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, behind which hide red M Sport brake callipers.
The rest of the standard equipment list is near-on identical to the standard 840is with highlights including active seat ventilation, seat heating, heated armrests, soft-close doors, ‘Walknappa’ leather trim, a 464 Watt Harmon/Kardon surround sound system, adaptive M suspension, an M Sport differential, head-up display, Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant Plus.
An ‘Edition Heritage – 1/9’ badge will adorn the centre consoles of all examples.
While all body styles share the same kit lists, they differ when it comes to the colour schemes both within and outside the cabin.
The body of the Coupe is finished exclusively in ‘BMW Individual Frozen Marina Bay Blue’, paired with a black leather interior.
Its four-door stablemate will only come in ‘BMW Individual Frozen Black’, contrasted against by ivory white upholstery.
As for the Convertible, it will don a ‘BMW Individual Frozen Dark Silver’ paint job, paired with a ‘Tartufo/Black’ interior.
No changes have been made under the skin with the Heritage Editions retaining the same 250kW/500Nm turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine as the regular 840is with power still sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
BMW Australia has sold 38 examples of the 8 Series across all three body styles so far this year ending June 30 of which 18 were the four-door coupes.
