New models - Volkswagen - Tiguan Allspace - Monochrome EditionTiguan range scores Monochrome editionVolkswagen adds third special edition to Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace line-ups2 Sep 2022 VOLKSWAGEN will introduce a third special edition – the Monochrome – to its Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace line-ups from January next year.
Based upon the 162TSI R-Line variant, Volkswagen says the Monochrome edition will save buyers up to $4100 over the derivative models, offering five- and seven-seat options, a powerful 162kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, all-wheel drive grip and a “brooding” design.
Combining complementary and contrasting design elements in light and shadow, the Monochrome editions feature 19-inch Valencia alloy wheels in glass black, dark tinted rear windows, and a black style package which includes black roof rails, upper grille, C-signature, lower rear bumper, mirror shells, rear spoiler window trims, and side and rear strip trims.
Further, the trimmed down Volkswagen Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace Monochrome editions include an 8.0-inch Discover Media infotainment system (in place of the 9.2-inch system), ArtVelour and cloth R-Line upholstery, the removal of seat and steering wheel heating (and outboard rear seat heaters on Allspace models), and high-grade LED headlights.
VW says that as with the current MY23 162TSI R-Line range, side assist with rear traffic alert, proactive occupant protection system and the electric tailgate are currently unavailable.
Priced from $53,390 plus on-road costs for the Tiguan Monochrome and $55,690 plus ORCs for the Tiguan Allspace Monochrome, the variants include metallic paint as standard and are available in silver, grey, white or black exterior colours. Optionally, the pair is available with a three-layer pearl finish hue dubbed Oryx White Pearlescent for an additional $900.
A panoramic sunroof is the only further option at $2100.
“Following the Touareg Monochrome in 2018, the Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace Monochrome expertly blend alluring exterior styling with greater value,” said Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles brand director Michael Szeniecki.
“The Monochrome, Tiguan Allspace Adventure, and Tiguan R Grid Edition also allow us to tailor packages that avoid lengthy wait times caused by semiconductor shortages, in a valuable special edition format for customers.”
Mr Szaniecki said the Monochrome special edition is available to order now with first deliveries in January 2023.
