Despite competitive pricing and strong performance, the front-wheel drive Maxima never realised its potential over three generations… until now.
With a 170kW/333Nm 3.0-litre quad-cam V6 heart (mated to a four-speed automatic) to thrust it along effortlessly already in place, the J31 Maxima’s newfound sassy styling and designer interior with one of the world’s best rear seat accommodations now puts it in real contention in the lower prestige segment.
It's also bigger inside even though it's smaller outside, lighter and – from base ST-L through to Ti and Ti-L – better equipped. Deficits are few, but include suspension that is soft, cushy and doesn't promote on-road agility, while the overly light steering isn’t for keen drivers.
