Super TestCar reviews - Nissan - Maxima - Ti sedanNissan modelsOverviewA rebodied 1995 Maxima, the 1999-2003 A33 edition brought improvements throughout29 Mar 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON NISSAN proved with the previous Maxima that it really did know how to build a good prestige car. The latest model adds more refinement, safety and interior space - at the cost of extra weight. The new car sits quietly in the mainstream as far as styling is concerned, although at least the new interior looks more inviting. The V6 engine is still a jewel and the pricing is nothing if not competitive. Model release date: 1 December 1999 to 1 December 2003 Did you know?· The Maxima was designed at Nissan?s technical centre in Atsugi, JapanAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen Previous modelThe second generation Maxima was everything the previous model wasn't. Well-built and dynamic, it had a nicely sorted suspension and a jewel of a 3.0-litre V6 providing the power. The main disappointment was the bland interior. Four levels were available: 30G, 30GV, 30J and 30S. |
