TD Koup

KIA followed the local launch of its TD Cerato small sedan with a two-door coupe – a five-seater that neatly filled a void in the mid-$20k coupe market. The Cerato Koup shared only one panel – the bonnet – with the sedan on which it was based, and was shorter, lower and lighter too - being 50mm lower and 10mm narrower. While it had the same 2650mm wheelbase, rear leg room was down 28mm on the sedan. It also weighed 20kg less than the sedan, at 1274kg for the manual and 1288kg for the automatic. The 2.0-litre Theta II engine – identical to the engine in the sedan – produced 115kW of power at 6200rpm and peak torque of 194Nm at 4300 rpm.The rest-to-100kmh time was 9.3 seconds with a top speed of 190kmh. Fuel consumption stood at 7.7L/100km for the manual (auto: 7.8) and CO2 emissions were 183g/km for the manual (auto: 186g/km).The Suspension was also based on the Cerato sedan but with a thicker front anti-sway bar and revised coil spring and dampers.Standard safety gear included with dual front airbags, dual front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, active head restraints for front seats, five lap-sash seatbelts, electronic stability and traction control plus ABS brakes with brake-force distribution. The comprehensive standard features list included 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/45 R17 tyres, keyless remote central locking, power windows, climate control, trip computer, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, alloy pedals, front fog lights, speed-sensing auto door locks, remote audio and cruise controls, six-speaker radio/CD player with AUX input and MP3 and iPod connectivity, 60/40 split rear seat backrest, twin exhaust with chrome tips and rear park assist. The Koup was available in a choice of four standard exterior colours that included three solid paint finishes (Clear White, Ebony Black and Racing Red) and one metallic colour (Bright Silver). Three metallic colours were also available by dealer order (Sweet Orange, Santorini Blue and Titanium Silver). In October 2010, the Koup became a two-variant line-up with the arrival of a new premium model, the Cerato Koup SLS, featuring a leather interior, power glass sunroof, LED tail-lights, metal-look interior finish, electro-chromatic rear-vision mirror and chrome-coloured door handles. The SLS also took the trip computer, rear parking sensors, climate control and 17-inch alloy wheels that were standard in the outgoing Koup – but were not included in the revamped MY2011 Koup SLi, leaving it with manual air-conditioning and 16-inch alloy wheels. Both models featured a six-speed manual transmission (with a new the six-speed auto option, that included steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifters), electric power steering, Australian tuning for dampers, springs, sway bars and steering, Bluetooth and a folding ignition key fob (in place of the previously-supplied separate remote).

GoAuto Search Words

Search will attempt to find all articles within the system that contain any or all words you are looking for.

You can include words like "and" + "or" for boolean style searching. Some search examples as follows:

  • "Ford v8" - Results will contain the text as it appears in the search "Ford v8".
  • "Ford and v8" - Results will have both "Ford" and "v8" within its contents but may not be sequential as per previous example.
  • "Ford or Holden and v8" - Results found will contain "v8" and also contain either "Ford" or "Holden".

You may also use wildcards represented by an asterisks. For example:

  • "Turbo*" - will find all documents that contain words like "Turbocharged", "Turbo-Diesel".
  • "Ford and v*" - Results will have both "Ford" and any word that has "V", so you may find documents about Volvo that mention Ford.

Please note: Due to the number of articles, searches may take a few moments to respond.
