Chrysler GA Galant

The Galant as a car has a very long history for Mitsubishi Motors of Australia Limited (MMAL). And a version of it holds the key to its future too.

As the 1971 GA Galant Deluxe, the neatly styled four-door Japanese sedan swept aside the 1960s Hillman Hunter models that Chrysler inherited when it bought the British Rootes Group to become Chrysler Rootes Australia… Two hugely successful rear-wheel drive four-cylinder models were introduced – a 65kW/108Nm 1.3-litre SOHC unit and a 71kW/130Nm 1.5 version. Both utilised four-speed manual gearboxes.
