Mitsubishi Magna

TR Magna

1 Apr 1991

The all-new Mk2 Magna was bigger, stronger, quieter, better equipped and more refined and conservatively styled than before.

It featured a comprehensively revised version of the ageing 2.6L Astron II four-cylinder engine, with EFI initially as standard, for a power hike to 98kW.

Transmission choices and the Executive/SE/Elite designations were carried over. But the base GLX returned in October ’91, equipped with the old 83kW carburettor engine.

The old TN/TP-based wagon carried through to the introduction of the new locally designed TR version in May ’92.

In March ’93 the Magna Executive sedan and wagon aimed for Falcon and Commodore conquest sales with the option of the imported 120kW 3.0L V6 engine garnered from its upmarket KR Verada twin.

Unlike the Verada, the Magna V6 could be had with a five-speed manual gearbox. Bigger wheels, central locking and new trim accompanied the V6 versions.
