Toyota CorollaAE80/2 Series II Corolla1 Sep 1986 A range-wide facelift saw a new grille, revised cabin trim, redesigned wheel covers, more standard equipment and the introduction of a four-speed automatic on higher-end models. The sedans lost the 1.3 engine option. A round of upgrades occurred in March ’88, which included more standard features (including the desirable power steering on some models). The SE badge also returned in 1.6-litre form. A limited run Spirit model based on the volume-selling CS 1.6 was introduced in early ’88. When the final AE82 was produced in December ’88, some 370,000 Corollas had been made at Toyota’s historic Port Melbourne plant in Melbourne since 1968. A total of 3.3 million of the AE82 were manufactured worldwide. |
