Minor trim adjustments, the introduction of a new Ascent model known as the Sport (as per the Series-I TTR), revised colours, and a teardrop headlight effect on the hatchback (painted grille on others) marked the Series II Corolla facelift.

The first batch of hatchbacks and wagons came out of Japan since the usual South African sourced cars weren’t here until August.
