Toyota CorollaE160 Corolla1 Oct 2012 THE 11th generation Corolla small car arrived in Australia in late 2012 showcasing Toyota’s latest design language with a sleek front end and edgy lines. Toyota reduced the price on all models except the range-topping Levin ZR at launch but increased the levels of standard equipment across the range. The Japanese car-maker was hoping to appeal more to private buyers with the new Corolla as around 40 per cent of sales of the previous generation car went to fleets. Better handling, a more premium interior and more space inside were other improvements over the previous hatch. A tweaked version of the 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine that produced 103kW powered all Corolla models with the availability of either a six-speed manual or a CVT. Manual versions had combined fuel consumption of 7.1 litres per 100 kilometres while CVT variants managed 6.6L/100km. Standard gear from in the entry-level Ascent included seven airbags, Emergency Brake Signal, a six-speaker audio with Bluetooth connectivity and steering wheel controls, cruise control and a multi-information display trip computer. The Corolla was awarded a five-star crash safety rating from ANCAP upon release. Read moreWhen it was new |
