Super TestCar reviews - Ford - Falcon - XR6 Turbo sedanFord modelsWheels/tyres19 Dec 2002 ALL BA Falcon XR variants are fitted with 17-inch wheels and tyres as standard. The base AU XR6 rode on a 16-inch wheel/tyre combination at the end of its model life, while the XR6 VCT and XR8 have been on 17s since May 2001 and April 2000 respectively. Specific to the new XR variants with Tickford-tuned suspension are low-profile Dunlop SP Sport 3000 tyres measuring 235/45 R17 93W. The Fairmont Ghia's 17-inch wheels, as well as the Ford accessory 17-inch wheels, both wear smaller sized 225/50 ZR17 tyres. Regardless of standard steel or alloy wheels, all BA Falcon variants are equipped with a 16-inch steel spare wheel as used by the XT. A matching alloy spare wheel is available as an option, although it becomes standard on the XRs when specified with the Premium brakes option.
