Super TestCar reviews - Ford - Falcon - XR6 Turbo sedanFord modelsLuggage19 Dec 2002 THE BA Falcon has a smaller capacity luggage area than its AU predecessor - 504 litres versus 528 litres in the old model - courtesy of the more complex and space-consuming Control Blade IRS that is standard across the sedan range. But Falcon still beats Commodore (475 litres) in outright volume terms. The useable nature of the space has been brought into question though, as the once flat boot floor now has a spare wheel-shaped depression in the centre, whereas Commodore retains the advantage of a flat load area. Meantime, Commodore's total capacity is hampered by the intrusion of its bootlid hinges, while Falcon continues with a redesigned version of its multi-link hinge system that is positioned outside the boot opening aperture.
