So in 2005 it created the Range Rover Sport, a separate second-tier Range Rover model. The Sport has iconic Range Rover design cues but is based on Discovery 3 architecture and mechanicals, has a leaner look than its Vogue sibling and is much cheaper. Now it has been given a refresh for the 2010 model year, with the centrepiece of the update being a stunning new turbo-diesel V6. The Sport TDV6 was the entry-level model to the three-tier Sport range and was powered by a Jaguar-derived 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel powerplant that developed 140kW of power at 4000rpm and 440Nm of torque at 1900rpm that was linked to a six-speed auto transmission and a permanent four-wheel drive system. |
