Audi polishes hard-charging TT RS sportscar

Big wing and redesigned front-end completes Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster facelift

7 Feb 2019

AUDI has subtly updated its TT RS Coupe and Roadster with a more aggressive front-end look and a redesigned wing, with it expected to hit Australian showrooms before year’s end.

Minor styling changes extend to the rear, with new side winglets positioned above the RS-specific diffuser, and blingier titanium-look quattro badging.

The design tweaks put the TT RS in line with the standard TT range which saw a similar mid-life update late last year.

Performance-wise, the German two-door remains unchanged, still sporting the 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine tuned to produce 294kW and 480Nm.

In turn, the TT RS Coupe still runs the zero to 100km/h dash in 3.7 seconds, thanks in part to its carry-over seven-speed automatic transmission and quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system.

LED headlights are standard, though Matrix LED and OLED tail-lights will be available as an option.

New paintwork option will also be launched, including Kyalami Green, Pulse Orange and Turbo Blue for a total of eight colour options.

Audi Australia yet to confirm pricing, however, the current range is priced at $137,240 plus on-road costs for the Coupe and $141,240 for the Roadster.

Last year was slow for the Audi TT range, which recorded 187 total registrations for a 25.8 per cent dip compared to the year before, however, its Audi A5 sedan stablemate was the third most popular model in the $80,000-plus sportscar segment, at 594 units.
