Another minor round of changes saw a new grille, hubcaps, colours and trim, while a redesigned four-speed auto and improved seats were introduced.
Power steering finally became standard across the range during 1990, as did EFI except for the GLX.
In September of that year 1000 Grand Tourer models arrived, with bigger wheels, the Elante’s sportier suspension set-up and EFI.
Several limited edition wagons were introduced – 1000 Grand Tourers in September ’90, the Encore GLX (with air-con) in May ’91, 500 more Grand Tourers from September ’91 and 500 Safaris in November ‘91.
