Prices have risen by $1600 for the 220i pair to $52,900 and $59,900 for the Coupe and Convertible respectively, while the 230i has increased by $1100 to $63,000 and $73,000 for fixed- and folding-roof versions. The second-to-top variant, the M240i, has added $1900 to its asking price, translating to $76,800 for the Coupe and $85,800 for the drop-top. Visual updates include bi-LED headlights with circular design, while the M240i gains adaptive LED headlights with hexagonal design, as seen on a number of recently updated BMW models. All variants feature LED foglights as standard, as well as new one-piece L-shaped LED tail-lights. Models equipped with the Luxury Line trim level gain a revamped front apron with larger intakes and a more pronounced kidney grille. Four new alloy wheel options are available to go with ten exterior colour choices, including Sunset Orange metallic, Seaside Blue metallic and Mediterranean Blue metallic which join the range for the first time. Inside, BMW’s updated iDrive6 infotainment system is fitted to the new 2 Series, which also adds an 8.8-inch touchscreen when opting for the Navigation System Professional sat-nav unit. Pearl chrome trim finishers, chrome window button elements, new stitching and high gloss-black centre console comprise stylistic cabin changes, while the Dakota leather trim is now available in Cognac colour. Standard equipment on the entry-level 220i includes 17-inch alloy wheels, DAB+ digital radio, automatic climate control, rear view camera, sport leather steering wheel, leather sports seats for front passengers, front and rear parking sensors and BMW’s ConnectedDrive suite of assistance technologies. Stepping up to the 230i nets buyers the M Sport package with M suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels, M aerodynamics package, M Sport brakes, Shadow line exterior trim, anthracite roofliner, M leather steering wheel, Navigation System Professional with 8.8-inch touchscreen, electric seat adjustment, comfort access, variable sport seating and heated seats for the Convertible. Opting for the M240i adds 18-inch jet black alloy wheels, 12-speaker harman/kardon surround sound system, adaptive M suspension, adaptive hexagonal LED headlights, Dakota leather upholstery and heated seats for both body styles. No changes have been made to the 2 Series’ powerplants, consisting of 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engines producing 135kW/270Nm in the 220i and 185kW/350Nm in the 230i, as well as a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six for the M240i pumping out 250kW.500Nm. All variants send power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, with a six-speed manual as a no-cost option for the M240i. To the end of July, BMW has sold 385 examples of the 2 Series, down 36.9 per cent on the 610 it had sold to the same point last year.
