BMW launches 2016 Individual range

BMW has introduced a new range of Individual Collection customisation options for selected models across its X5, 3, 4, 5, and 6 Series ranges, as well as a new Sport Innovations package for its X3 small SUV.

Available for nine models in the German luxury line-up, the Individual range bundles some of the options most frequently chosen by BMW customers with Piano Black trims, special leather interiors, the M Sport package and a choice of Individual paint colours for all models.

Just 147 Individual vehicles will be made available for Australia and are in dealerships now ranging from the $94,900 before on-road costs 330i Touring, which represents a $21,600 increase over the standard 330i Touring with just five examples available.

Its interior is upholstered in Cashmere Beige Merino leather which extends to the dashboard, while the exterior is dressed up in Citrin Black paint. Like all individual cars, the M Sport pack brings a more aggressive bodykit, lowered suspension, gloss black exterior trims and sportier steering wheel.

Extra kit includes 19-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, ConnectedDrive Freedom, Harman Kardon stereo, internet connectivity, the Innovations package, front seat heating and a sunroof.

For an extra $21,300, BMW is also offering the same equipment for 20 examples of the 428i costing $103,700. The more exclusive versions are painted Champagne Quartz and have Opal White leather seats and dash.

Stepping up to one of the 20 convertible versions of the 428i Individual Costs $117,400 – an increase of $18,000 and adds identical upgrades as the Coupe with the exception of its paintwork which is Citrin Black.

Ten examples of the 428i Gran Coupe complete the 4 Series Individual range costing $22,900 more than the standard car at $105,300 with the same embellishments in addition to Frozen Bronze paint.

Ten each of the BMW 528i and 535i Sedan are also available in customised Individual gear priced from $122,300 and $141,400 respectively – an increase of $23,100 and $23,500.

Both 5 Series variants are treated to 19-inch wheels and sunroof, while the 528i gets front comfort seats and the Professional Pack or Exclusive Package for the 535i. Each are identifiable by leather and paint combination specific to the variant.

The 640i range completes the passenger Individual range starting with the $194,200 Coupe, which costs $16,300 more than the regular 640i and, like all 6 Series Individual variants, has 20-inch wheels, comfort seats with active ventilation, Harman Kardon stereo and Ceramic control surrounds.

Just two of the Coupes will be up for grabs and will be dressed up in Brilliant White paint with Cohiba Brown leather, the five $199,500 Gran Coupes are Tanzanite Blue with Platinum leather, while the five Convertibles have Ruby Black paint, Opal White leather and cost $208,500 each.

BMW's X5 large SUV has also been included in the 2016 Individual range with the M Sport pack, sunroof, heated front comfort seats, multifunction instrument display, sunblinds for rear windows and lane change warning included in the $126,900 price – an increase of $24,000.

Unlike the other Individual models, BMW is offering the X5 in a choice of two versions. Forty examples will sport Ruby Black paint with Smoked White Merino leather upholstery and a contrasting Walknappa Scotch Dark dashboard, while 20 versions will have Pearl Silver paint, Nutmeg Merino and Black Walknappa dash.

Both Individual X5s get V-Spoke wheels, satin Aluminium exterior trims, black Alcantara roof-lining and the customary Piano Black wood interior trims.

The German car-maker's X3 smaller SUV has not been included in the Individual line-up for 2016 but is now available with a Sport Innovation Package for all four xDrive variants at no extra cost.

Up to $8000 of extra equipment is added to the ageing X3 and is likely to be in response to the introduction of Mercedes' all-new GLC small SUV competitor, which has been warmly welcomed in Australia.

The xDrive20i and xDrive20d versions are treated to 19-inch wheels and an Aerodynamics Package for a more sporty exterior look, while interiors are freshened up with Nevada leather and an M Sport steering wheel. Dynamics are improved with Performance Control and sport suspension settings.

Extra equipment also includes keyless access and start, self-dimming and folding exterior mirrors, 360-degree camera and an 8.8-inch screen with Professional navigation.

Higher-end xDrive28i and xDrive30d versions get all of the same extras but already include some of the features added to more affordable versions. They still have around $4000 of extra value added, according to BMW.

The X3 range starts at $62,200 for the xDrive20i and tops out at $79,100 for the xDrive30d.

Rounding out the 2016 model updates is confirmation that the previously reported M3 and M4 Competition Pack is coming to Australia but pricing for the performance-boosting kit is yet to be announced.
