There was also the introduction of the sporty GSR hatchbacks fitted with a 90kW 1.6L twin-cam 16-valve four-cylinder unit.

The CB series-based 65kW CC GL and 77kW CC GLXi five-door hatchbacks lived on right through the CC-series Lancers until July ’96, when the CE range was launched.
