Super TestCar reviews - Ford - Laser - SR 5-dr hatchFord modelsResearch Ford Brakes24 Aug 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON DISC brakes are used front and rear, the ventilated front discs measuring 258mm in diameter and the solid rear discs 281mm. These are the same brakes used on all 1.8-litre (and now 2.0-litre) Lasers, with 1.6-litre models making do with 235mm front discs and 200mm rear drums. An anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution is available as an option on Laser SR and all other 1.8/1.6 Lasers only the 2.0 SR2 has it standard. All models use rigid front callipers and high-friction-coefficient brake pads to provide greater resistance to fade under high speed or high load conditions. Did you know? The new (optional) electronic brake-force distribution system is designed to differentiate between light and heavy loads and then allocate the ideal hydraulic braking pressure to counter rear wheel slip if it occursAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
