Super TestCar reviews - Ford - Laser - SR2 5-dr hatchFord modelsResearch Ford Transmission20 Jul 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON ALL Laser models have a five-speed manual gearbox as standard and a four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission available as an option. The automatic transmission on the current generation Laser uses an electronic throttle valve arrangement, a new clutch control system and precise clutch pressure control to achieve good shift quality and responsiveness. The auto also has a "slope control" feature that attempts to eliminate gear hunting on uphill and downhill gradients, the transmission holds third gear rather than shifting between third and fourth. Part of the engineering work with the fitment of the 2.0-litre included increasing rigidity in the clutch housing. Did you know?Final drive ratio on both the manual SR2 and SR Laser is 4.105All car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
