The manual is a single rail type gearbox with a gearknob straight from the 306. Shift travel has been designed to provide both smooth and positive selection. The "Auto-Active" automatic transmission is another borrowed from the 306 range. A Siemens computer fitted with self-test diagnostics, programmable memory and "fuzzy" programming logic controls the transmission.
