Compared to the Generation III previously fitted to the 9-3, this engine has a new exhaust camshaft, plus new and stronger pistons and connecting rods. The peak torque of 240Nm at 1800rpm through to 3500rpm is 21Nm up on the old engine and obtained 1800rpm lower. Power is down 3kW to 110kW, however.
