Super TestCar reviews - Subaru - Forester - X 5-dr wagonSubaru modelsSecurity1 Oct 2002 THE Forester range is fitted with an immobiliser security system as standard. Enhanced security measures on the new model include the use of only one key cylinder, which is in the driver's door. An emergency unlocking lever for the tailgate is located behind a small access cover inside the tailgate itself. Subaru claims improvements have also been made to the door locking mechanisms and linkages. The key fob has only two buttons to operate the remote central locking, one for unlocking the doors and tailgate and the other to lock them. A new feature inside the car is a separate button located on the driver's door armrest to activate and centrally lock all doors. This function was previously controlled by the actual door lock mechanism - using it on the new model will only lock the driver's door.
