Super TestCar reviews - Subaru - Forester - X 5-dr wagonSubaru modelsClimate Control1 Oct 2002 THE Forester's heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) controls are virtually identical to those fitted to the current Impreza range. Although both cars have unique dash and console designs, the HVAC switchgear is very similar. Three rotary dials control the Forester's vent direction, fan speed and temperature settings, while separate buttons are provided for the rear demister, air-conditioning and air recirculation functions. The differences between the Forester and Impreza stablemates lies in a restyling of the actual rotary switches on Forester, as they have shorter finger grip mouldings. There are also numbers to indicate fan speed on the Forester rather than the Impreza's increasing bar-size indicators, while temperature is simply blue for cold and red for hot - the Impreza also has numbers to indicate temperature in Celsius.
