Super TestCar reviews - Volkswagen - Bora - V6 4Motion sedanVolkswagen modelsLuggage13 Sep 2001 IT might be unfairly known as a "Golf with a boot" but the Bora answers its critics with a host of features at its rear-end. The boot is fully lined, uses non-intrusive gas struts, an electric door release at the bootlid and contains luggage tie-down hooks, a 12-volt power outlet, two useful storage holes, an exposed CD changer, warning triangle under the lid and a temporary spare tyre beneath the floor. The floor width between the wheel arches is 1000mm, boot depth measures 970mm, boot opening width 944mm and the load height 436mm. Sending the lockable 60/40 split-fold rear seat into action increases luggage volume from 455 litres (or 1058mm floor length) to 785 litres (1637mm), with both the seatback and base folding to create a relatively flat floor (it leaves a step) and a small barrier between the cargo compartment and the cockpit. The loading lip is protected by a stainless steel cover.
