Super TestCar reviews - Volkswagen - Bora - V6 4Motion sedanVolkswagen modelsTransmission13 Sep 2001 A CLOSE-RATIO six-speed manual gearbox is, for the time being, the only transmission available on the V6 4Motion. Final drive ratio is 4.20. As the name suggests, 4Motion uses a four-wheel drive system governed by an electro-hydraulic Haldex clutch, which apportions drive between the front and rear wheels as required. It's essentially a torque-on-demand system, running as the front-driver until slip is detected power is then transmitted (seamlessly) to the rear wheels. In most situations, the Haldex clutch will vary torque between 95:5 and 50:50 front-to-rear.
