TB Getz Series IIOct 2005

TB Getz Series II

A smoother new nose, upgraded interior specifications and trim, and revised engines summed up the TB Getz facelift. The 60kW 1.3 and 74kW 1.5 were ousted for a 70kW/126Nm 1.4 and 78kW/144Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder units, each with double overhead cams and 16-valve heads.Again the model was offered in three and five-door hatchback configurations.Significantly, the volume-selling 1.6 came standard with anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, while all Getz models included air-conditioning, dual front airbags, power steering remote central locking, an alarm, MP3/CD audio and power mirrors. From early ’06 stability control was also available in the Getz 1.6 models, along with a sporty FX 1.6, with racier trim and alloy wheels. For 2007 HYUNDAI has launched a limited-edition "Click" version of its smallest model, the Getz. It's distinguishable from the base by 14-inch alloy wheels and Click exterior badging, and inside adds blue cloth trim, chromed interior door-handles, a brushed alloy-look dashboard and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with remote audio controls. The Click is available on 1.4-litre S and 1.6-litre SX three-door Getz models only and adds $500 to the price, with metallic/mica paint costing a further $300 - before on-road costs.Standard on all Getz variants is air-conditioning with pollen filter, power windows/mirrors, front active “anti-whiplash” head restraints, remote central locking with alarm, a six-speaker stereo with MP3 and WMA-compatible CD player, full-size spare wheel and driver’s seat height adjustment. The 1.6-litre Getz adds an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) as standard. The Getz Click is available in just three colours: Noble White, Midnight Grey and Sky Blue.

JB RioAug 2005

JB Rio

Arguably the year’s most improved car, the JB Rio was co-developed with the all-new 2006 Hyundai MC Accent – so is generations ahead of its lame and very long-in-the-tooth BC Rio predecessor.Despite being shorter, the JB is far more space efficient, and features two attractive bodies (four-door sedan and five-door hatchback) as well as a smart cabin that verges on being European-like in layout and design.Thankfully though it’s underneath that the JB Rio has make most of its strides, with a much higher degree of body control than before the chassis seems much stronger and rigid and there’s significantly less noise, vibration and harshness coming into the cabin. It also feels like a tighter and much-better made car.Performance is a strong suit too, thanks to a 1.6-litre twin-cam 16-valve four-cylinder engine nicked from the Accent and now the Getz.Emitting 82kW of power at 6000rpm and 145Nm of torque from 4500rpm, it provides plenty of acceleration and a punchy overtaking attitude for a light-car contender. But a rubbery five-speed manual gearshift (a four-speed auto is also available), quite leaden dynamics, a whiff of low quality construction and intrusive mechanical and road noise levels keep the Rio far from light-car class leadership.

NF SonataJun 2005

NF Sonata

ARGUABLY the best Hyundai sold in Australia to date, the fourth-generation Sonata impressed with its pleasant styling inside and out, big quality and presentation strides and amenable – though far from class-leading – driving dynamics. Two engines driving the front wheels were again offered – a new 118kW/219Nm 2.4-litre twin-cam 16-valve four-cylinder unit, as well as a new 3.3-litre DOHC 24V variable-valve V6 delivering 173kW and 304Nm.Both powerplants were smooth and surprisingly gutsy. The 2.4 was only available in a four-speed sequential shift automatic while the 3.3’s sole automatic choice was a new five-speed sequential shift transmission. The latter also included stability and traction controls in its specification, while all NF Sonata’s came with anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution, dual front, side-front and head airbags, remote central locking, power windows, and power mirrors. The Elite also added leather, powered front seats, parking radar and cruise control to its specifications.

GoAuto Search Words

Search will attempt to find all articles within the system that contain any or all words you are looking for.

You can include words like "and" + "or" for boolean style searching. Some search examples as follows:

  • "Ford v8" - Results will contain the text as it appears in the search "Ford v8".
  • "Ford and v8" - Results will have both "Ford" and "v8" within its contents but may not be sequential as per previous example.
  • "Ford or Holden and v8" - Results found will contain "v8" and also contain either "Ford" or "Holden".

You may also use wildcards represented by an asterisks. For example:

  • "Turbo*" - will find all documents that contain words like "Turbocharged", "Turbo-Diesel".
  • "Ford and v*" - Results will have both "Ford" and any word that has "V", so you may find documents about Volvo that mention Ford.

Please note: Due to the number of articles, searches may take a few moments to respond.
