Super TestCar reviews - Mercedes-Benz - CLK-class - CLK430 Elegance coupeMercedes-Benz modelsResearch Mercedes-Benz Dash23 Oct 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON MERCEDES-BENZ has aimed to create a "made-to-measure" cockpit, with all controls within reach and surrounding the driver with modern forms and high-quality materials. Instead of the previous round gauges, the instrument cluster now has a trio of arc-shaped displays to indicate engine revs, speed and fuel level. Telltale and warning lights are located under the tachometer, inside the middle speedo segment and under the fuel gauge. These lights only come on when the ignition is switched on or if there is a fault otherwise, the panel remains dark at these points. The central display panel in the cluster provides information such as engine oil level, next service due, coolant temperature, daily and total distance travelled, distance to empty and radio/stereo settings.
