Super TestCar reviews - Mercedes-Benz - CLK-class - CLK430 Elegance coupeMercedes-Benz modelsResearch Mercedes-Benz Electronic System23 Oct 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON A SOPHISTICATED collection of electronics is provided in the CLK. Like the C-class, the coupe has available a Cockpit Management and Data system (a.k.a. COMAND) that acts as a control centre for all audio and telecommunications functions - radio, stereo, CD player/changer, sat-nav, phone, "Linguatronic" voice control and TV receiver. The driver can operate these functions directly on a COMAND unit in the centre console or transmit instructions using buttons on the steering wheel. A number of electronic handling-related safety systems are found on the car, including the electronic stability program (ESP), acceleration skid control and brake assist. The latter automatically generates the maximum brake boost if it deems the driver brakes too hesitantly or gently in critical situations. Did you know? The transmission of sensor signals, measurement data, information, music and TV pictures at lightning speed and with excellent quality is ensured by a trio of high-capacity databus systems and the use of fibre optic cables on board the CLKAll car reviewsAlfa Romeo Abarth Alpine Alpina Audi Aston Martin BMW Bentley Chevrolet Chery Citroen Chrysler Dodge Cupra Ferrari DS Ford Fiat FPV Foton GWM Great Wall Holden Haval HSV Honda Hyundai Hummer Isuzu Infiniti Jeep Jaguar Lamborghini Kia LDV Land Rover Lotus Lexus Maserati Mahindra McLaren Mazda Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG Mini MG Nissan Mitsubishi Peugeot Opel Proton Porsche Renault Ram Rover Rolls-Royce Skoda Saab SsangYong Smart Suzuki Subaru Toyota Tesla Volvo Volkswagen |
