But a lot can happen in the small-car space in just four years, and car-makers from Mazda to Hyundai, Honda and Holden now have seriously strong offerings, with an emphasis on quality and good value. VW has introduced what it is calling the Golf ‘7.5’ update, with the hatch and wagon range offered with more standard spec and safety gear, a more potent entry-level petrol engine and an expanded high-riding Alltrack range.
