Super TestCar reviews - Volvo - XC70 - SE 5-dr wagonVolvo modelsSeat Plan1 Aug 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON THANKS to its commodious shape and clever interior engineering, the Cross Country is a true five-seater with space for all occupants. In the SE version it's a full leather interior as well, which adds to the luxury feel. Three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners and adjustable headrests are provided for all five occupant seating positions, front and rear. The centre rear headrest retracts to the height of the seatback when not in use to assist the driver's rear vision. As this is a Volvo, there's front, side and head airbags and anti-whiplash front seats. There's plenty of storage including a huge two-stage lidded centre console bin and pockets on the front and back of the front seats and in the front doors. Grabhandles are also in abundance, reflecting this is a vehicle that will hit the bumpier tracks. But funnily enough, unless you option the rear armrest, there's no rear cupholders. Up front there's three, including a dangerous looking claw which springs out of the vertical centre console section.
