Future models - Audi - R8Sydney show: R8, S6 debutAudi reveals a $195,900 pricetag for its S6 super-sedan, unveiled in Sydney27 Oct 2006 AUDI has one of the most action-packed stands of all the exhibitors at this year's Sydney motor show, including Australian debut reveals of the redesigned TT coupe, the all-new R8 supercar, the S6 super-sedan and the Le Mans-winning R10 diesel racer. As announced last month, the TT coupe is set to join the all-new Q7 SUV in Audi’s range from November and has been priced to please from under $69,000. It will be joined next year by the new TT Roadster, first revealed globally last week. Alongside the new TT hardtop, Audi’s blistering new S6 also makes its Australian debut following its January 2006 global reveal, powered by a 320kW/540Nm version of the 5.2-litre V10 that powers the new S8 – which made its Australian debut in Melbourne in February and also goes on sale in November. While the 331kW/540Nm S8, which accelerates to 100km/h in a claimed 5.1 seconds, will be priced at $259,900, the stove-hot S6, which rides on 19-inch alloys and blasts to 100km/h in a claimed 5.2 seconds, will be priced at $195,900. Both S models will be available exclusively in six-speed Tiptronic auto guise. Two other Australian debuts in the road-going R8 supercar and the R10 racecar are likely to attract even more attention. Powered by a 484kW/1100Nm V12 diesel, Audi’s giant-killing R10 made history in June when it became the first diesel-powered car to win the 24-hour Le Mans race. Finally, the 309kW 4.2-litre V8-powered R8 quattro coupe, Audi’s first supercar, will make its local debut after appearing for the first time globally at Paris last month. Capable of a 301km/h top speed, the aluminium space-framed R8 goes on sale here in limited numbers in the second half of 2007. Audi also revealed a $168,100 price for its V8-powered RS4 Avant, due on sale here in late 2006.
