Wind in the air: Production Eos will borrow heavily from Concept C.
VOLKSWAGEN has named its forthcoming steel-roofed cabriolet Eos, after the Greek goddess of the dawn.
Dawn is the ideal time for cabriolet driving, according to VW, and easy to enounce. Given Eos is apparently the "mother of the wind" it also suits the company's obsession with wind-related names: Bora, Passat, Jetta, Polo, Scirocco, Corrado and, we're told, even Golf.
To be launched in Australia next year, and unveiled at next week's Frankfurtmotor show, Eos is based on the Passat platform and will borrow heavily from the Concept C first shown at Geneva in 2004.
