Super TestCar reviews - Mitsubishi - Lancer - Ralliart Evo VI sedanMitsubishi modelsOverviewMention the word Evo and it conjures up real high performance motoring27 Aug 2001 Meet the Ralliart Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition, Mitsubishi's answer to Subaru's all-conquering turbocharged all-wheel drive Impreza WRX and its WRCar-mimicking sibling, the STi. As the long-winded name suggests, this is no ordinary Lancer. Like the STi, its turbo four produces the Japanese-maximum 206kW and it drives through a sophisticated all-wheel drive system. But the limited-edition Makinen Lancer sets new benchmarks for both performance and handling, and its rally-bred Active Yaw Control differential delivers an even more involving driving experience. Yes, Mitsubishi's virtual rally racer has been a long time coming and it isn't cheap, but - security issues aside - the Evo VI is surprisingly easy to live with and, for this money, nothing else comes close to it.
