Super TestCar reviews - Mitsubishi - Mirage - 3-dr hatchMitsubishi modelsDash1 Feb 2001 DUAL airbags are optional and come with a pleasant three-spoke steering wheel instead of the standard skinny plastic two-spoke version. Tilt adjustment of the steering wheel generally allows for a good driving position. The console is angled toward the driver for better ergonomics. An electronic odometer/trip meter was a revelation back in '96, and is still a rarity in the light car class. The gear indicator on automatic versions is also a rare treat at this level. The absence of a tachometer is an annoyance, although the enormous fuel and temperature gauges that fill the space on either side of the speedo are hard to fault. A low fuel warning lamp is included. A digital clock is standard. The multi-layer instrument panel structure and door trim structure are made from easily recyclable olefin polymers.
