A much-improved car, the X2 featured a similar looking but all-new bigger and stronger body, redesigned cabin and a revised, fuel-injected 62kW 1.5L engine.
The range was now: L and GS three-door, short-lived GS, LS and GLS five-door, and LS and GLS sedan.
A new four-speed auto replaced the three-speed auto, while a four-speed (L) or five-speed manual was standard.
A minor facelift heralded the arrival of an L three-door panel van in late ’91, along with the value-added, volume-selling Sprint three-door.
