50 Series II Kluger

Toyota rolled out its updated Kluger large-size SUV in February 2017, with a revised drivetrain and restyled looks on offer.Outputs for the 3.5-litre atmo V6 petrol engine increased by 17kW/13Nm to 218kW/350Nm, while an eight-speed automatic transmission was added in replace of the former model's six-speed unit.As such, there were sweeping improvements to fuel economy and carbon dioxide emission levels across the board.Externally, a new front fascia featured, as well as LED tail-lights. Inside, Toyota described the interior as more upmarket than before.Pricing increased between $1360 and $2360 depending on the chosen variant.

C-HR

Late to the party, Toyota entered the compact SUV segment in February 2017 with its C-HR crossover, otherwise known as Coupe High-Rider.Retaining its concept car looks in product trim, the Japanese car-maker hedged its bets by placing the C-HR further upstream as a premium offering when compared to its most direct competitors.Two grade levels were offered, as well as the choice between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive. However, manual buyers were limited to the base 2WD variant as a continuously variable transmission (CVT) was otherwise standard fair.Each version was motivated by an all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produced 85kW of power and 185Nm of torque.The list of standard safety equipment was impressive, and so was the ability to customise with eight different paint colours and the choice of a white, black or body-colour roof.

R52 MY17 Pathfinder

NISSAN released an upgraded version of its Pathfinder seven-seat SUV in February 2017, with a heavily revised 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine being its headline act.Power was boosted to 202kW (+12kW) and 340Nm (+15Nm), which helped keep it on par with its main competitor, the Toyota Kluger.A new front fascia featuring Nissan's V-motion family grille helped differentiate the Pathfinder from its former model.ST, ST-L and Ti model grades carried over with a Hybrid powertrain also on offer as an alternative to the revised V6 petrol, with price rises limited to between $500 and $2200 applying to only half of the variants.
