Sydney show: Hyundai's eye on i30

Eyes have it: i30 arrives as Hyundai's first new alpha-numeric model.

On sale now, Hyundai's new i30 hatch hits Sydney, alongside a next-gen Tiburon preview

11 Oct 2007

THE all-new i30 hatchback released earlier this month was the production-car star on Hyundai’s stand at the Australian International Motor Show today, but the South Korean brand also took the opportunity to look into the future with the Veloster concept car. First presented at the Seoul motor show in April, the Veloster is a pointer to the next-generation Tiburon coupe. Its name is a compound of velocity and roadster and its target audience is Generation Y. It has a futuristic interior and interesting features such as a glass roof. Hyundai Motor Co Australia also presented a new van called the TQ, which will arrive in Australia early next year. It will be offered as a spacious people-mover and as a cavernous commercial van. Also shown at this year’s Seoul motor show, the TQ is modelled on large vans like the Ford Transit and Renault Trafic. It will fill the hole left by the discontinued Trajet people-mover, although Hyundai expects 70 per cent of TQs will be sold as commercial vehicles.
