CHERY’S first fully electric BEV, the Omoda E5 small SUV arrives in two grades, BX and EX, both with premium features sharing the same styling, front-wheel drive and single electric motor with 150kW and 340Nm claimed to give 430km (WLTP).

An entry-level variant, the Omoda 5 FX is equipped with 17-inch alloys, fabric upholstery, single-zone climate control, halogen projector-style headlights and a six-speaker Sony audio system. Powered comes from a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder.

A large three-row, seven-seat SUV available in two- or all-wheel drive in three versions: Urban, Elite and Ultimate all powered by a 180kW/375Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine driving through seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

More powerful turbocharged Omoda arrives as a step-up on the existing 1.5-litre model. With 137kW/275Nm and front- and all-wheel drive available, the model will sit atop the EX variant. It further features a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and multi-link rear suspension.

Chery’s five-seat Tiggo 7 Pro SUV arrives in the Medium SUV segment offered in three trim grades – Urban, Elite and Ultimate. Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and with the availability of front- and all-wheel drive and extensive equipment levels.

Recently relaunched Chinese brand Chery has announced pricing of its initial, two-variant, Omoda 5 small SUV line-up, possibly available from this month with the base grade pitched at $29,900 plus on-road costs and the higher-spec’ Omoda  5 EX at $32,900 + ORC. Both run a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and CVT.

Relaunch of the Chery brand in Australia kicks off with a petrol-powered small SUV called the Omoda 5. Two grades will be offered, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol FWD, and a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol AWD.  Has a five star Euro NCAP rating, which bodes well. Prices TBA.
